However, infrastructure and basic amenities like water and power supply will have to be established. Tuki asked the concerned authorities to go ahead with the proposal for further action by the government.

He then visited the Urban Development complex at Lekhi Village that comprises of a three-storied market-complex, a housing complex and an auditorium. While the market and housing complexes are nearing completion, the auditorium is lying unused. AAPSU spearheading movement for deportation of Chakma-Hajongs’

ITANAGAR, Jul 27: Reacting to the various charges of some organizations, All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union president Kamta Lapung today clarified that the AAPSU has been spearheading for deportation of Chakma-Hajong and other refuges for the last few decades.

It was AAPSU which had steadfastly opposed grant of citizenship to Chakma-Hajongs born in Arunachal and right to vote by the government of India, Lapung said in a statement.

AAPSU had neither given any commitment to support grant of citizenship to the Chakma-Hajong refugees nor had opened dialogue with the refugees. Rather, the apex students’ body had boycotted the second high level meeting on finding a lasting solution to the refugee imbroglio to register protest for the refugees’ involvement in numerous crimes, including the rape of a class-IX student by the Chakma refugees at Chowkham, the latest incident of heinous crime by the refugees.

The AAPSU teams have been visiting the Chakma-Hajong inhabited areas to conduct survey, take feed backs from the local people about the refugees’ illegal activities, encroachment of land, reserve forest and collect crime statistics from the respective police stations to strengthen the resolve and force the GoI to see reasons that the prolonged stay of the refugees on Arunachal soil was detrimental to the interest of the state and its people. The visit concluded at Kokila in Papum Pare district today where the refugees were warned against encroachment, crimes and respect the law of the land.

“The AAPSU has enough documentary evidence against the refugees about the atrocities committed against the indigenous people and move the GoI in this regard while continuing its fight to achieve its goal to throwing the refugees out of this tribal state.

Formation of organizations has become a fashion in the state and taking up the cause of AAPSU is not only unprincipled but unethical too.

So far as LPC is concerned, the Constitution of India is clear on the issue and beating around the bush on LPC is nothing but to hoodwink the people, Lapung added.
